Neon & Nails - Lets bring Summer into Autumn with PrettyLittleThing #AD

Hello ladies,

Yes I’m back,
I have had a very long break from blogging. Why? You might ask, well for a number of reasons. First my laptop broke, second life just got in the way and thirdly I was struggling with my anxiety, which effected my motivation & creativity to write. But all these points added up to one thing, I needed a break! I needed to find myself again, and the universe was telling me that, the signs were all there! Once I put myself first, which can be the hardest thing to do sometimes, but once I gave up to it, made some changes, became a little selfish, I started seeing positive change happening. I have a different look on life, the day to day things that used to stress me out don't anymore, and my energy has shifted. It toke me 8 months to feel right again, but now the universe is giving me new signs, start again, a blessing in disguise, new energy is coming, meeting new people. I’m feeling more happier, more confident and also have a different look on life, my focus has changed and I’m excited for the future. Like my best friend said ‘Steff you’ve got your mojo back!’

Now that I'm back, I've missed blogging, the writing, the editing, taking photos and everything that’s goes with it. I think I lost why I started the blog in the first place, and it became something that had to be done instead of something I loved to do. The blog started as a hobbie when I was unemployed fighting for a job through a recession, to keep my mental health good and to keep my brain egar to work. Now 4 years later, the blog is still a hobbie, but now is my outlet to express creativity, share my passions and still nurses my mental heath. It’s keeps my mind focused and positive, my thoughts clear and away from any anxiety or worries I may have. I don't go to the gym, I don’t do any other activity outside of work, so blogging is my escape from reality. I enjoy doing it, it feels rewarding and I’m delighted to be back in the swing of blogging life. I have my mojo back! Yeay!

So if you noticed the #AD in the title, yes this blog post is an advert, sponsored by PrettyLittleThing. I was kindly gifted 4 outfits for their Autumn campaign, I will say I was not paid any money for this but given a pick of clothes as payment for writing this blog post. But receiving an email from a well known company, which I support and have used for many years it was a blessing disguise, as it gave me the push I needed to start writing again. I was over the moon when I received the email from Emma from pretty little thing. As I love shopping on PrettyLittleThing.ie, it’s one of my go too sites, for dresses for weddings, award ceremonies and events. Even the odd impulse buy when the sales are on. So I was so happy to be apart of their Autumn 2019 campaign. I couldn't wait to shoot these looks as I’ve missed taking and editing style photos for the blog & Instagram, you all know I’m a wannabe Instagram model.

So while on my blogging break, I was still working hard, but at new things that I wanted to try. Like entering the nail art photography category in this years Irish Nail tournament and modeling for a local Hat Hire business. Which you can see all this hard work on my Instagram >>>

So for today blog post I’m going to combine the two and bring the fashion world and nail world together! Now I know this is already happening and there are some amazing clothing brands, and designers working with big names in the nail industry to create some amazing looks for the London, New York and Paris fashion weeks each season. But not many people are noticing, I feel the nail industry is only starting to get recognized by the consumer amongst the big world of fashion. Nails are becoming a accessory to an outfit, a vital addition when putting an outfit together.  Nails can help us decide what dress to wear at that family wedding or give the finishing touches. Nails also get us excited to wear clothes we wouldn’t wear usually? To try something new and fresh while we live our best life’s poolside holding a cocktail.
Do you agree?

So this is the start of a series of blog posts where I would like to show you the current fashion trends I’m liking each season, how I would style it and corporate into my wardrobe and how I match my nails with those outfits, but also give you a little insight into the nail world, give you tips & tricks on picking the right colours for you, while helping you keep your nails looking good & healthy for longer. So if this sounds good to you? Make sure your notifications are turned on, on all my social media accounts, so you can be notified when I post next. Or you can sign up to my Email subscription where I will send you a email every two months with links to all the blog content and social media news within those two months. You can sign up to my email subscription via the little email box on the top right column of the blog. just scroll up.

It’s the end of the summer, and we are feeling the Autumn air coming in. Neon colours was the big trend this summer 2019, lime, yellow, orange, green. It was amazing, a touch of the 80s & 90s came back with a modern twist. But I’m not ready to say goodbye to those neon colours or summer just yet, are you? So Thanks to PrettyLittleThing I’m keeping Neon for Autumn and adding my staple Autumn trend, leopard print. But I’m introducing new colours into my wardrobe, so my style is changing with the seasons. I usually go for the same colour palette all year round (pinks, greys, blues, white and black) so I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new with neon.

Two of my favorite Nail colors this summer was the new Neon Yellow ‘footloose’ from the Manicure company's summer collection and a Neon orange from Candy Coat, which is a brand I'm discovering at the moment (which hint hint, will be the next blog post)  I loved painted these colours on my clients nails, and I never got bored looking at these colours while wearing them myself. So I don’t wanna say goodbye to these hot neons just yet. So I’m going to have one more go and bring them colours into Autumn aswell.. A nail trend for summer 2019 was having one hand Neon and the other a muted colour (eg. Neon pink - Nude pink, Neon green - Emerald green). So I’m going to keep the 90s Neon vibe going by doing a French tip with two Neon colours, go for a long ballerina shape with a muted Acrylic nude. To tone down the bold bright summer nails into a muted Autumn nail look, that is going to match my Autumn style too. So as I transition into Autumn fashion and Autumn nail colours, I’ll bring my favorites summer trends with me. (Atleast until the sparkly winter comes).

Hope you enjoyed this post, I really enjoyed creating it, and thanks PrettyLittleThing for updating my Autumn 2019 wardrobe. You can shop the outfits here, and I believe they have up to 70% off summer sale on now too!
